Threave progressed to the second round of the south of scotland league cup with a 3-1 victory at Newton Stewart. they will now meet St Cuthbert Wanderers next saturday at Kirkcudbright.

Threave started slowly and it was no surprise when Newton striker McEwan was left unmarked at a corner from the right and he headed home giving Threave goalkeeper Benson no chance.

Threave equalized on 31 mins when Donley opened his account for the season from a through ball from Warren.

Threave then went ahead when Patterson got a final touch on a Kerr shot.

In the second half sub Middlemass came on for the injured Milligan and he made the game safe for Threave when he hit home from long range.

Threave keeper Benson then made amends for a rash challenge by saving the resultant penalty with 10 mins left.
